How Do You Live? - Hayao Miyazaki Studio Ghibli

The film "How Do You Live?" is attracting attention as the first feature film by director Hayao Miyazaki in 10 years. 
Studio Ghibli has announced that it will not release any trailers or advertisements for the film prior to its release on Friday, July 14 2023 (in Japan, JST).

After the release of the 2013 film "The Wind Rises," Hayao Miyazaki announced his retirement, but retracted his statement in 2017. This is the first feature film by Hayao Miyazaki in 10 years, and is an "epic fantasy" film that borrows the title of the 1938 novel of the same title by Genzaburo Yoshino, which he was moved by when he was a child. Studio Ghibli released a mysterious poster in December 2022, but has not revealed any details about the film, such as a synopsis, cast, story setting, or characters. According to "The Hollywood Reporter," producer Toshio Suzuki said, "As part of our previous studio operations, Ghibli wanted a lot of people to come see the films we made. We've thought a lot about that and done a lot of different things to achieve that, but this time we felt it was time to do it," he said, clarifying that no further information would be released prior to the film's screening.

He added, "There's an American movie coming out this summer at about the same time," he said, "and they made three trailers for it, one at a time, and if you watch all three, you'll know everything that's going to happen in the movie. So how do fans feel about it? Some people will only see the trailers and won't want to actually go see the movie. So we wanted to do the opposite," he continues.

I have been making films since "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" and this was the first time Hayao Miyazaki really praised me. He said, "Mr. Suzuki, this is great. （He said, "This poster is the best one I've ever made. That gave me a hint. Then, we decided to go with just this one poster. No trailers, no TV spots, no newspaper ads. That's what the audience would want, subconsciously."
